Blunt Cut
The ends of the hair should be cut straightly across. It is ideal for fine hair, make it look bouncy and thicker. Blunt cuts are usually one length.
Feather or Slide Cut :
The stylist slides the scissors up and down small sections of hair. This makes the sections of the hair thinner towards the end.
Graduating :
The ends of the hair are cut at an angle to the head. The hair on top looks thicker and blends with shorter hair at the back and slides.
Layering :
The hair is cut to different lengths usually the top layers are the shortest layering gives a rounder and softer appearance to a hair style.
Thinning :
Special thinning scissors or a razor is used to reduce the thickness or bulk of hair without changing its actuall length.
Trimming :
It means reducing the length of hair by one to two inches.
It should be done to give shape and to maintain the style.
Blunt Cut :
It is well know as club cut. This is a method used to cut hair bluntly. Gross cutting should be carried out in wet hair. Hair at the neck should be shorter than the hair in front. Cut should be Slant.
'U' Cut :
Hair should be divided into three sections. Each section of hair should be cut in a slant manner, including left and right side of hair and middle hair need to be cut in a straight way.
'V' Cut : It is done 'V' Shape beginning from shoulders and ending at the back.
Step Cut :
It can be done for both short and long hair. Hair is divided into sections and pined up section wise. First step hair has to trimmed. Second Step hair need to be cut one inch shorter than the first one. The third step hair is to be cut be one and a half inch shorter than the previous one.
The gap between the steps can be one and a half inch. The levels can be taken against chest, chin, nose, and fore head.

This is generally done for girls between the age group of 3 to 12 years. The front hair is cut till fore head, the fore head hair is cut till neck. The length can be slightly shorter than that.
